A dead key fob battery can leave you locked out of your car or prevent remote functions from working. Luckily, replacing it is fast and simple.

What You Need:

  • A small flathead screwdriver or prying tool

  • The correct replacement battery (usually CR2032 or CR2025, check your key fob model)

  • A clean surface to work on.

Steps:

  1. Open the Key Fob -Look for a small notch or seam along the key fob’s edge. Use your screwdriver or prying tool to gently separate the halves. Be careful not to damage the plastic.

  2. Remove the Old Battery - Once open, locate the battery. Note its orientation (positive vs. negative side). Remove the old battery carefully.

  3. Insert the New Battery - Place the new battery in the same orientation as the old one. Make sure it fits snugly.

  4. Reassemble the Key Fob - Snap the two halves of the key fob back together. Ensure all parts align and there are no gaps.

  5. Test the Key Fob - Press the buttons to make sure everything works. If your car doesn’t respond, double-check the battery orientation and make sure the key fob is fully closed.

Tips:

  • Keep a spare battery handy.

  • Replace the battery at the first sign of weakening.

  • Avoid dropping or exposing your key fob to water.
